Hello all,
My name is Meghan Shirling and I am going to be a junior this fall here at the University of Arkansas. I am a double major in Accounting and Spanish. I am originally from Kansas City, but I am starting to call Fayetteville my home.
I am studying abroad in Madrid, Spain for the month of June. We are going to Madrid with Professor M. Reina Ruiz. To prepare for this trip, we have had two meetings to go over what is required of us as students to go study abroad. I worked as a host at Applebee’s to save money to spend in Madrid and on our trips exploring Spain.
Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine and was a big influence of why I came here to the University of Arkansas. What I hope to gain from this trip is a better understanding of the Spanish language, and to learn more about their culture. You can only learn so much about languages and cultures through a classroom, so I believe that obtaining these first hand experiences will help me later on in life.
My dream is to work internationally after I graduate, and I believe that this program will help be obtain that dream. This program allows me to learn more about another language and culture that can help me down the road.
